Bakhtiyari
A tribe living in western Iran : They speak Lori and are mostly Shiite Muslims. Their two tribal groups are the Chaharlang and Haftlang; the position of leader of all the Bakhtiari alternates every two years between the chiefs of the two tribal groups. Many chiefs have been influential in national public affairs and have held office. Bakhtiyari women are normally better-educated and freer than average Iranian tribal women.
