Chaldoran

Chaldoran is a place in the north of Iranian West Azarbaijan province, the place where the famous Battle of Chaldoran took place between Iranian and Ottoman forces. The site of the battlefield is near Jala Ashaqi village, 6 km west of Siyah Cheshmeh, south of Maku. A brick dome was built at the battlefield site in 2003 along with a statue of Seyid Sadroddin, one of Safavid commanders.
