    Artavardiya was a general of Dariush the Great who defeated Vahyazdata on 24/25 May 521 BC in a battle at the city Raxa, in Persis, where 4404 rebels were killed. Vahyazdata had proclaimed himself king, also claiming to be the real Smerdis. He seized the Persian palace at Pasargadae and was able to subdue Arachosia.After the Battle of Raxa, Vahyazdata fled. The decisive battle took place on 16 July 521 at Mount Parga, in Persis, in which 6246 rebels were killed and 4464 were taken captive, including Vahyazdata himself.
