The Roman army was defeated in Caucasia and peace negotiations went on for some time. Finally the Romans accepted to pay a fine equal to 3400 kilograms of gold in exchange for peace. According to this agreement, the first payment which was received by King Anoushirvan. Romans had started the war and this payment was to cover damages. The Romans later brought up excuses and did not make next payments. After the Shah's death, the payment issue was completely forgotten.
