Mamoun Becomes Caliph
Mar, 24, 809 AD
The news of Harunolrashid's death soon reaches Khorasan. In a secret meeting among nobles and elderly, Mamoun his son from an Iranian mother was chosen as caliph. 3 weeks later, his brother Amin sends an army of 91000 soldiers to counter Mamoun's volunteer corps of 30000 in Tehran. The Abbasi army leaded by Aliebnemousa Bin Haman were defeated. The winning army proceeded to take Baghdad under siege. Soon Baghdad fell and Amin's head was sent to Mamoun. (Updated: Dec, 1, 2007)
