Hallaj Executed In Baghdad

Mar, 27, 922 AD

Hossein-ebne-Mansour also known as Hallaj was a great philosopher who was executed in Baghdad after he was lashed 1000 times and his arms and legs were cut. He advocated equal rights for all people in the society and was against exploitation. His revolutionary ideas made the caliph regime uncomfortable and he was accused of causing an uprising by Gharamateh. His last famous words were "Analhagh" meaning "I am the truth", that pissed off zealots who considered themselves representatives of Allah. Hallaj was born in 858 in Fars province and was 64 when he was killed. He had travelled far and had taught his views from the Red Sea to the Bengal Gulf. (Updated: Dec, 4, 2007)
