Treaty Of Finckenstein Signed With France
May, 4, 1807 AD
The treaty of Finckenstein which was concluded between Iran and France. While France was at war with Russia and Britain, this treaty was of major importance because Napoleon recognized Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan as parts of Persia. France was to furnish Iran with arms and training in the war with Russia. Iran in return was to declare war on Britain. A French delegate was sent to Iran that trained Iranian soldiers new techniques of using cannons and firearms.
But France did not honor the terms of the treaty and it's life ended in March, 12, 1809 when another treaty made with Britain was realized forcing the French out of Iran. (Updated: Feb, 15, 2008)
